Soroken Health Center opens up LEVEL 3 Health facilities

The National Minister for Health, Hon Dr Lino Tom, arrived this morning in the Autonomous Region of Bougainville for the official groundbreaking of the Soroken Health Center in the Mahari Constituency.

This critical infrastructure project is made possible through funding assistance from the Asian Development Bank and the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs.

The new health center will comprise of buildings for out-patient, accidental and emergency care, an operation theatre with a surgical ward accommodating eight hospital beds, x-ray and dental facilities, a pharmacy, two birthing suites, 22 beds for post-natal and general inpatient services, a family support centre, a waiting house for expectant mothers, a kitchen and laundry area, a maintenance workshop, a generator block, rural and electric waste incineration blocks, blocks for outpatient ablution and guardian amenities, an administration building, and 18 units of 3-bedroom staff houses.
