Dame Jean Retains Police Promotions Board Chair

The swearing-in ceremony at the Police Headquarters in Konedobu was small but significant. The event, marking the start of police promotions for 2024, was attended by Commissioner of Police David Manning, who was accompanied by several senior officers of the constabulary.

Commissioner Manning explained that he had written to Dame Jean, inviting her to participate in the promotion board panel, and she had accepted. “The Police Minister and the executive management are deeply elated because Dame Jean is one of PNG’s most distinguished woman leaders,” Manning stated. He further highlighted Dame Jean’s role as a prominent and renowned role model known for her outstanding work in both the government and corporate sectors.

The other appointees on the 2024 police promotions board include Deputy Commissioner of Police and Chief of Administration Dr. Philip Mitna, representing the Commissioner, and Assistant Commissioner of Crimes Hodges Ette, representing the Police Union. Both Mitna and Ette also took the oath and signed the instruments giving effect to their appointments.
